The TAELLN411 is the latest “Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills” unit. This unit is expected to become a core component of the new Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (yet to be released).
Once the TAELLN411 becomes a core unit of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, qualified trainers will have 12 months to add a TAELLN411 unit (or equivalent) to their set of training accreditation’s. This unit supersedes and is equivalent to the TAELLN401A.
The TAELLN411 unit addresses the skills and knowledge a vocational trainer or assessor needs to identify and support the language, literacy and numeracy skill requirements of a learner group in a training or work environment.
This unit will use a mixture of practical and knowledge based assessments to establish competence in abilities such as:
The TAELLN411 is available via online learning or can be studied in face-to-face workshops being held in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
As part of the unit, you will need to complete some workplace-based assessments. You will need to be a trainer or conduct training in a real workplace as well as have access to learners that have language, literacy and numeracy requirements.
Course Duration and Nominal Hours:
You will have 3 months to complete your training from your date of commencement. There are a total of 78 nominal hours for this unit. This equals approximately 6 hours of study per week when studying online, however you may work at your own pace and complete your course faster if you’d like! Alternatively you may join our one day face to face workshops where all assessments will be completed with the group in a single day.
The TAELLN411 unit is assessed using written questioning, problem solving in scenarios or simulated activities, projects, and by gathering and creating documents.
There are no formal entry requirements for the TAELLN411 unit. However, it is preferable that you are actively training and hold a TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification or equivalent. You must have sound language, literacy and numeracy skills, and basic word-processing and computer skills.

We understand that many professional trainers will have already developed LLN tools, resources and processes that can be used as evidence of competence in the TAELLN411 unit. RPL is available for any learner who can provide documented evidence of competence through previous training (formal or informal), or previous life or work experience.
The RPL process is really straightforward, simply indicate on your enrolment form that you would like to apply for RPL and once your enrolment is confirmed, you will receive an RPL kit to help with evidence collection. Your trainer will also call to go through any potential RPL opportunities you may have. Simple!
