The BSB51312 Diploma of Work Health and Safety is Australia’s latest safety management course, superseding the older Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety (BSB51307).
Nominal Hours: This course has a nominal study load of 400 hours. This equals approximately 8 hours of study per week over 12 months.
Assessment Methods: This Diploma qualification is assessed through written questions, projects and case studies.
The Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51312) is comprised of 9 units – 5 core units plus 4 elective units. This WHS Diploma is now considered the minimum training requirement for safety management in many workplaces. It is specifically designed to develop the knowledge and skills required for working as an workplace health and safety professional within any work context. Clustering: This qualification has been clustered so that the 9 course units are delivered in just 3 easy-to-follow workbooks: Safety Management Systems, Hazards and Risks, and Incidents and Emergencies. This clustered approach reduces the duplication of learning and assessment tasks between two or more course units, so you only have to demonstrate required competencies once. This approach has been found to help you study at a great pace and provide you a more ‘holistic’ learning experience.

You must have successfully completed the 5 core units from the BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety to enrol in the BSB51312 Diploma of Work Health and Safety. To help you gain entry to the Diploma and learn the WHS skills you need, Inspire Education has developed a fast-track bridging course for the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety units. These 5 core units are delivered in 4 clustered workbooks to help you complete your training as quickly as possible. After completing the bridging course, you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for these 5 units.
Bridging Course Duration: You will have an extra 6 months to complete these units, bringing your maximum total course duration to 18 months.
Bridging Course Nominal Hours: The prerequisite units have a nominal completion time of 210 hours. This equals approximately 8 hours of study per week over 6 months.
