Course Outline & Structure

Nominal Hours:  There are a total of 300 nominal hours for this course. This equals approximately 6 hours of study per week for the full 12 month course, however you may work at your own pace and complete your course faster if you’d like!

Assessment Methods:  Assessment is conducted using a combination of written questions, case studies, and practical assessment to give you maximum opportunity to develop your administrative skills and knowledge.

BSB40507 Course Units

BSBADM406B – Organise business travel
BSBFIA401A – Prepare financial reports
BSBITU402A – Develop and use complex spreadsheets

Group B Units:

BSBADM409A – Coordinate business resources
BSBINN301A – Promote innovation in a team environment
BSBRES401A – Analyse and present research information
BSBRSK401A – Identify risk and apply risk management processes
BSBWHS401A – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements

Other qualifications with similar units include the Certificate IV in Human Resources or the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites required to enter the Certificate IV in Business Administration. However, it is preferred that students:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
  • Hold a Certificate III in Business Administration OR some industry experience in a relevant role (e.g. Office Administration Assistant, Receptionist, Accounts Clerk, Data Entry Operator)
  • Have basic computer skills

After completing the Certificate IV in Business Administration, learners can continue their studies with the Diploma of Business Administration BSB50407. The Diploma qualification is suitable to advance into roles such as an Administration Manager, or General Office Manager.
